Introducing Server Studio JE

Server Studio JE is an integrated suite of tools for IBM Informix DBAs and back-end developers.

It provides the following major functions:

• SQL editing, execution and tuning
• database schema management and analysis
• real-time server performance monitoring and alerting
• database schema comparison and synchronization
• remote server administration
• table reorganization
• data import/export, editing and test data generation
• historical server performance analysis
• server-side SQL capture, analysis and optimization
• automation of server maintenance tasks
• load testing and benchmarking of database servers
• scheduling of OS and SQL jobs
• server permission's management
• stored procedure debugging

Server Studio JE is a client-side application and does not have to be installed on the database server host.
From a single Server Studio JE installation you can access and manage multiple remote IBM Informix server instances.

The Server Studio JE has a modular architecture. The application framework contains the following core functional modules:

• Object Explorer
• Properties Inspector
• SQL Editor
• Table Editor

All other functions are provided by dynamically loaded add-on modules, such as Server Administrator, DB Difference Analyzer, Data Manager, Permission Editor, and others. Server Studio JE setup program always installs all available add-on modules. After that, depending on your job function, you can exclude from your user profile modules that are not required.. For example, if you are a back-end developer, you might need only schema management and SQL development functions but do not need database administration functions provided by Server Administrator module. In addition, Server Studio JE serves as GUI client application for Sentinel server. Sentinel server enables proactive performance monitoring of IBM Informix instances, alerting, SQL capture, job automation and historical performance data repository.
